Welcome to Ashford Community Choir

Introduction

"Love to Sing!", the Ashford Community Choir, was founded by Tessa Fineman in September 2008 as part of the Highworth Grammar School community outreach programme. The school has specialist status for music and was given a government grant to include the development of musical activities within the local community. Although the choir started life at Highworth we now hold our rehearsals at The Norton Knatchbull School.

Since its inception, the choir has grown from nine to ninety members, aged from early 20's to 90! There are no auditions, no need to read music and no obligation to perform in our concerts. The only requirement is to "Love to Sing!" and to be prepared to rehearse with commitment in an atmosphere of friendship and enjoyment.

Free taster sessions are offered at the start of each term. Please contact our secretary if you are interested and, if you decide to join, there is a small termly fee for membership of the Choir.

What we sing

The choir's repertoire includes world music, show and folk songs. The singers regularly perform for local charities.

Where we sing

We rehearse between 7 – 8.30pm on Tuesday evenings during term-time in the Drama Studio in The Norton Knatchbull School, Hythe Road, Ashford TN24 0QJ.
